This growing engineering business near Hitchin designs and builds bespoke machinery for a wide range of sectors including automotive, aerospace, logistics, and general manufacturing. What you’ll be doing:

• Lead the design of special purpose machinery, from blank sheet to build, using SolidWorks

• Produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs

• Work closely with the shop floor team to see your designs come to life

• Take ownership of your projects – no micromanagement, just support when you need it

• Solve real-world problems with practical, precision-engineered solutions

What they’re looking for:

• 5 years’ experience in mechanical design of bespoke machinery, automation systems, or special purpose equipment

• Strong SolidWorks skills

• Someone confident working independently, taking projects from concept to completion

• Based within a reasonable daily commute of Hitchin (approx. 45 mins max)

• Enjoys working in a close-knit, collaborative, and workshop-facing environment
