The Role
As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects across their full lifecycle, from concept and sales support through build, commissioning, installation, and after-market support. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to complex, cutting-edge machinery projects in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and FMCG sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for custom and platform machinery projects from proposal to after-market support.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification, highlighting risks where appropriate.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop machine concepts and respond to User Requirement Specification (URS) documents.
Support Sales and Applications teams in preparing proposals for future projects.
Produce validation documentation, including Hardware Design Specifications, test records, risk assessments, and O&M manuals.
Support machine validation and on-site installation, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer validation.
Assist in project procurement: create accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), liaise with suppliers, and ensure competitive purchasing.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and technicians.
Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues in collaboration with Mechanical and Software teams.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
Passion for Electrical Engineering and Automation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven track record delivering successful projects in multi-disciplinary teams.
Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems.
Electrical control panel, machine wiring, and safety system design.
AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software experience.
Knowledge of European directives (Low Voltage, Machinery, EMC) and IEC 60204-1.
Experience with functional safety design (ISO 13849-1 or equivalent).
Understanding of motion control technologies (servo drives, inverters).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience designing special-purpose machinery.
Beckhoff / Siemens control systems experience.
Commercial awareness with knowledge of project costing and budgeting.
Experience in pharmaceutical equipment or highly regulated industries.
Ambitious, career-oriented, and looking to grow professionally.
Experience using SISTEMA for safety circuit validation.
Recognised machine safety qualification.
Basic programming knowledge and familiarity with mechanical and pneumatic systems.
Qualifications
Minimum 2:1 degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Grade B or above in A-Level Maths and Physics.
