They are committed to delivering high-performance, practical automation solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency across multiple industries.
Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, product development, and manufacturing processes, with excellent SolidWorks skills. Experience within robotics, automation, or special-purpose machinery would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for robotic and automation systems using SolidWorks.
Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Work collaboratively with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and tolerance analyses.
Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.
Optimise designs for cost, manufacturability, and performance.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation and drawings.
Provide technical input to improve and refine existing systems.
Candidate Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
3–5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within robotics, automation, or industrial machinery.
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, detailing, and simulation).
Solid understanding of mechanical systems, gears, and motion components.
Experience with materials selection and manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing).
Knowledge of GD&T, FEA, and design validation principles.
Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with PDM systems.
Familiarity with robotic arms, conveyors, or custom automation equipment.
Understanding of pneumatic or electro-mechanical actuation.
Awareness of relevant safety and compliance standards (ISO, CE, RIA).
